Asia Update
COVID-19 cases have increased in Hong Kong, and as a result the local government is implementing more restrictions. Currently, there is no expectation that terminals will be affected, and carriers could continue to operate as normal. Our partners in Hong Kong are operating as normal, but have contingency plans and back-up support plans in place in case of disruptions.
Capacity
It appears there is hope on the horizon. Below is a quick summary of the additional loaders coming into the TPEB market over the coming weeks.
Expedite Options
Based on responses from last week’s newsletter, we will clarify that in addition to Yantian, options to/from Shanghai and Ningbo are still available. Note: if you would like to use these fast boat options for IPI destinations, we recommend booking at least 3 weeks in advance, due to service constraints.
If you are in need of assistance getting on either of these service options, please feel to contact your local Masterpiece representative. Contact a Local Representative
Airfreight
Due to another surge in PPE shipments and certain retail markets opening in the US, we are starting to see capacity out of Asia tighten again. This week, three major carriers (CZ/CZ/CK) cancelled flights from PVG to LAX and ORD. They also changed some flights to charters, removing space from the market, and increasing rates. This has contributed to increased rate levels. If your cargo is not time definite, there may be alternatives and charter services available out of China.
Visibility
